VPN for Android in Russia, installed the right way

Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and other manufacturers add their own battery policies on top of Android. If the tunnel stops after the screen is locked, open the MosVPN app information, review Battery settings and allow expected background activity while testing.

Change the setting only for MosVPN instead of disabling power management across the whole device. Lock the screen for five to ten minutes, then check the public IP again. Record the phone model, Android version and battery setting if the failure is repeatable.

Prefer Google Play or the APK linked directly from mosvpn.com. Do not install a modified build or a file forwarded in a public chat merely because its name contains MosVPN. Keep Play Protect and the device security checks enabled.

If Google Play is unavailable and you use the APK, grant install permission only to the browser or file manager handling that download, then turn the permission off again. A VPN app needs the Android system request to create a connection; access to contacts, SMS or photos is not automatically required for that purpose.

Disconnect all VPNs and open several ordinary sites first. If the base connection is also down, check the selected SIM, data allowance, private DNS and Wi-Fi sign-in before changing MosVPN. A tunnel cannot restore a mobile data session that the operator has not established.

If the base network works, compare the same configuration on Wi-Fi and mobile data. Set date and time automatically, check that the account is active and avoid clearing application data until you know how to recover your login and settings.
